What is a doula?

A Doula is a trained professional who supports families through their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. Our main focus is to help mamas (and dad’s, too!) feel empowered and in control of their experience and bodies. Through these services we offer physical assistance (including comfort techniques), emotional support, and evidence-based educational resources individualized to meet your needs. I can be there for every question and worry you may have, no matter how little it is, to reduce the stress of pregnancy. I am knowledgeable about all the changes you are going through during this time and can offer pain-coping strategies. Emotionally, I will be there to offer reassurance on the days you need that pep talk for all the hard work you are doing growing a baby! There is no simple way of explaining a Doula’s role - she is who you need her to be.

Does a Doula replace a partner/family member or friend?

Absolutely not! Adding a Doula to your support team is invaluable. Studies show that continuous support from someone outside your family or social circle results in better birth outcomes. Doulas are trained to work with your partner/family and to support them through this process, too! While your partner knows you emotionally, as a Doula I am trained in advanced comfort techniques, and can provide a wealth of education and informational support.
There is SO much evidence showing how much a doula can aid with better birth outcomes. No matter what kind of birth you are striving for, the goal is to leave you feeling empowered and in control.

Yay!! I'm so happy you're still here looking around. I hope that I have grabbed your attention. Let me take this time to tell you more about myself. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 11 years, we have 3 children, 14,11, and 3.  I breastfeed all 3, with my 3rd and last lasting the longest. We went 18 months! However, she wasn't exclusively breastfed, she still nursed as often as she wanted. Not exactly what I wanted, but we did what worked for us.
When I'm not in doula mode (who am I kidding, I'm always in doula mode), you can find me at baseball games, football games, competitive cheer competitions or softballs games. Yes, I need a shirt that says, "I can't. My kid has practice, a game or I'm at a birth. #doulamomlife". LOL
I obtained a Bachelor of Business in Management Information Systems  at the University of Central Arkansas. I know, I know, the two couldn't be further apart. But hey, we never know the path God has for us. Right now he's leading down the this wonderful path to be just the right addition to your birthing team you need. So lets meet to see if we are a great match! See you soon!
